About the event

Te Hau Kapua Devonport Peninsula Trust is a registered charity to benefit all who live and work on the peninsula. Its mission is to build community by enabling and empowering local communities and groups.
With volunteers and community partners it runs many events and programs.
To name a few: Kids Athletics programme in parks (est. 2003), umbrellaing the environmental programme Restoring Takarunga Hauraki to self-sufficiency, holding monthly morning teas with kaumatua elders of Haumaru housing, supporting a youth forum and youth driven initiatives, mid-winter swim events (est. 1994), facilitating community engagement with Te Whanau Ora, celebrating Bayswater’s creeps and ghouls at a Halloween Trail, initiating community resilience (Civil Defence) programmes in the Local Board area, hosting Santa every Christmas with a parade and festival on Victoria Road, and co-collaborating to deliver the peninsula’s Matariki 2023 celebrations.
